Ecocentre Tepla Gora

The highest mountain ecostation in our network, located at an altitude of 750 m above sea level in the Carpathians. This place is like an oasis amid a harsh mountain climate, because at the heart of Tepla Gora (Warm Mountain) is a community.

On 5 hectares of the ecostation there is a hostel for 30 people, glamping, a campsite for 100 tents, a sauna, a kitchen, as well as a common space “Om Centre” for yoga, gatherings, and practices. During the season, 800–1000 guests come here who value freedom, creativity, and care about the environment.

Tepla Gora is a retreat centre created with people and nature in mind. Guests here get information on biodiversity protection, and they are encouraged to adopt vegetarian diets. Here they collect and reuse rainwater for household needs, segregate waste, use solar energy, engage in permaculture and organic agriculture, a garden, and greenhouses, build from natural materials, and compost toilets are equipped on the territory. Sustainable development of the local community is one of the priorities of Tepla Gora, so the ecostation creates jobs for residents, buys products from local farmers, and together with the village community, cleans the riverbank every year.

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Tepla Gora has been hosting internally displaced persons, volunteers, and veterans for free, for whom the “Kolo” recovery and support program is currently operating here. In the future, the ecostation plans to develop psychological and physical rehabilitation programs, so they are looking for funding opportunities in this area.

Tepla Gora plans to continue to develop as a platform for eco-solutions, research into local biodiversity, eco-education, and stimulation of eco-entrepreneurship. And at the same time, create an environment for holistic recreation, education, community, and a healthy lifestyle.
